Exhibition by Zvonimir Pliskovac - Comics, caricatures, graphics, 1975-1985.

The opening of the exhibition will be on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 7 p.m. the exhibition remains open until April 15, 2022. Juraj Klović Gallery, Rijeka, Verdijeva 19 b Working hours: from 10 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed Sundays

The exhibition presents a selection of graphic works from 1975 to 1985; ie comics and caricatures printed in Val and Novi list in Rijeka, Studentski list, Polet, Vjesnik and Oku in Zagreb, Jež in Belgrade and Mladina in Ljubljana, as well as artist posters for cultural institutions, exhibitions, museums, theater performances, musical events, festivals and Rijeka punk bands.

When it comes to exhibited graphic works, series of comics or "anti-comics" as it is colloquially most often called, it must be said that this is an experiment, a step towards researching the autonomy of basic forms of comics; to the limits of the geometric abstraction of its construction or to the formative and semantic interpretation of the space of comics (both geometric) and the mental one. So the story is about comics, but inside, deep in comics; so always "for comics". Significantly, it is a comic of the situation, not the events.

An integral part of the exhibition are the texts of people: Ljiljana Domić, Velid Đekić, Goran Ježić, Veljko Krulčić, Miljenko Marin and Milorad Stojević with whom the author shared the time, and who were active participants, contemporaries, "comrades", associates, friends, colleagues and editors, all of whom participated in Val, around Val, in Rijeka and Croatia, then and until today, everyone in their field of interest, in the fight for culture, to push the boundaries of freedom, literature, criticism, history and art. Their literary statement about those years and the work of Zvonimir Pliskovac reconstructs and documents a broader picture of "our" common time from our history. Zvonimir Pliskovac was born in 1952 in Rijeka. He graduated in art history and archeology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb in 1977. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions. He is engaged in sculpture, painting and graphics. He is the author of public works. Member of HDLU Rijeka. Winner of several awards and recognitions.
